A luxury watch with a truly "royal" history: founded in 1775 by Abraham-Louis Breguet, the manufacturer's, with their technical innovations, appealed to the tastes of King Ludwig the XVI and Queen Marie Antoinette. Other European royals followed suit and Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were soon to be customers. The brand name quickly became very popular amongst the European elite: diplomats, academics, royals and high ranking military officers wore watches from Breguet. The list of customers reads just like a list of who's who in the history of Europe: Napoleon Bonaparte, Czar Alexander 1. of Russia, King George III of England, Empress Marie-Louise, General Davidoff, Baron Rothschild, the Duke of Marlborough, the Duke of Wellington, the Duke of Norfolk, King Louis XVIII of France, Sir Winston Churchill, Arthur Rubinstein, Ettore Bugatti, Sergej Rachmaninoff, King Faruk of Egypt, the Duke of Windsor and many other influential people... In 1999 the company joined the portfolio of the Swiss Swatch Group.
