Vacheron Constantin has revived a highly original wristwatch design from the early 20th century. Instantly recognizable for its cushion shaped pink gold case, and shifted dial and crown, the Historiques American 1921 faithfully recreates the original model, with the exception of case size, which measures a modern 40mm in diameter.
The Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 wristwatch is remarkable in its design authenticity. The case lugs replicate the wire form of the original model, as does the satin finished white dial, whose Breguet-style hands in black oxidized gold and matching Arabic hour figures call to mind the style of early 20th century wristwatches. The choice of sapphire for the curved crystal is a useful modern update, and offers great protection against scratches.
Ticking inside the Vacheron Constantin Historiques American 1921 watch is a hand-wound movement which has been designed and manufactured in-house. The Vacheron Constantin 4400 caliber is 28mm in diameter, just 2.8mm in thickness, and has earned the Geneva Seal for its strict compliance with the standards established by the Canton of Geneva for mechanical movements of the highest quality. A sapphire crystal window reveals the superb finishing of the 4400 caliber, whose fine nuances include perlage on the mainplate, Cotes de Geneve on the bridges, beveled screw and jewel settings, and gentle chamfering on bridge edges. Balance frequency is 28,800 alternations per hour, and power reserve is 65 hours.
Vacheron Constantin has indicated that production of the Historiques American 1921 wristwatch will be highly limited. Each timepiece features a hand-sewn alligator leather strap and an ardillon buckle in 18K pink gold.
